You're not interpreting the light curve of M31 correctly (or you didn't enter an answer!). Remember that any observations will include some "noise," so that the emission from a source, for example, will fluctuate about the real value. With that in mind, try looking at the data again and determining what percentage difference you see in the brightness of M31 over time.
